A slight chance of rain by ~Chocabookaholic:iconChocabookaholic:

The phone rings down the hall
A heart stops beating
We all know what it is
But nothing stops us from retreating

A hand grasps the phone
And a voice calls out
Although we all linger
We know what it’s about

And there’s a slight chance of rain today
There’s nothing we can do, and there’s nothing we can say
As the world is shadowed in grey
It rains today

A soldier’s mother or a patient’s father
They’re all the same
Falling to the floor, or slamming a door
It’s such a shame

We don’t value life
Until it is lost
Then we can grasp it
But at what cost

And there’s a slight chance of rain today
There’s nothing we can do, and there’s nothing we can say
As the world is shadowed in grey
It rains today

We try
We try and we try
To erase all the pain
We cry
We cry and we cry
And that brings the rain

And there’s a slight chance of rain today
There’s nothing to do, there’s nothing to say
As the world is shadowed in grey
Oh, the rain will take it away

Oh

And there’s a slight chance of rain today
There’s nothing we can do, and there’s nothing we can say
As the world is shadowed in grey
Oh, as the world is shadowed in grey
It rains today

This is a song I wrote when I was inspired by the title that LupinLuva's deviation which can be found at [link]

Mcstuff had a fantastic idea, that I go onto youtube and record what I think the song should sound like. So I did!
~ A new recording will be up later...

Amazing. I read along while I listened to the audio. I really REALLY enjoyed it and I hope you do this more often. You've got a beautiful voice and I highly encourage you to continue in this vein.
You've got a powerful message in this, actually a few. One in how we value life only after it's gone, and the other obvious one in the rain analogies.
Hearing your voice while reading the poem really allows the reader/listener to feel connected to the lyrics. Thank you for crediting me with the idea.

This is an alternate account of McSTUFF, but I wanted this deviation in my Favorites for both accounts.

Aww, thank you so much! I'm definitely going to start doing this more often, and I might go back and do it with some of the ones I've already written. Also thanks for giving me the great idea!

I very much look forward to seeing more poems or songs like this. I'm glad you were able to use my idea, I certainly don't have the voice for this sort of thing, but you were able to really utilize the media.
This is another great way to promote yourself, having submissions on both DA and Youtube.
Best of luck.

Thankyou!

When I woke up this song was in my head.
:iconchocabookaholic:
Yay, that makes me so happy. I've been walking around humming it for the past couple of days, the chorus really gets stuck in my head easily.

ty! i love this one as well. sad, but oh so true, isn't it?
:iconchocabookaholic:
Yeah, life can be like that sometimes... but I always try to think that sad moments shape our lives and really form who we are and how we handle situations. I'm a firm believer that something positive can be drawn from every situation.
